These complications happen to only 5% of dental implant patients. These signs include sudden fever, a splitting, piercing pain in the mouth and sudden massive swellings. They could be indications of an infection or that the dental implant was somehow damaged.
The worst that can happen doesn’t often happen. This is when your body rejects your dental implant and it has to come out. The first sign of that happening is when your gums and jaw become red and inflamed. If this happens, contact your dentist or oral surgeon immediately.
